Jacksboro ISD CDL Process
To obtain a CDL you must:
Apply at www.jacksboroisd.net, pass a background check, have fingerprints done, clean driving record, and be employed by JISD.
Pass a DOT physical - Medical Exam Report and a copy of the Medical Exam Certificate must be turned into the JISD Transportation Director.
Note: Medical Exam Certificate must be kept on your person while operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (School Bus).
Take Texas School Bus Driver Safety and Training Course. These courses are offered at a regional service center. Jacksboro ISD is serviced by the Region 9 Educational Service Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. We also use Region 11 ESC out of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Pass required Texas Department of Public Safety test for a Class B driver license with Passenger(P) and School Bus(S) Endorsements. You will be required to show 5 forms of identification to take your tests. Your driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, 2 bills with your name and verified address on it. Your name must be on the bill. Sections required to study in the Texas CDL Handbook are:
Class B License - 1,2,3,4,5,10,11,12,13, and 14. You will have to take 5 tests.
Class A License - 1,2,3,4,5,6,10,11,12,13, and 14.
Minimum requirement is Class B for a School Bus.

Test 2 - General Knowledge - Chapter 1,2,& 3 - 50 Questions
Test 3 - Air Brakes - Chapter 5 - 25 Questions
Test 4 - Passenger - Chapter 4 - 20 Questions
Test 5 - School Bus - Chapter 10 - 20 Questions
Schedule a driving test with a school bus. You will need to study again sections 2.1,5,10,11,12, and 13. This will help you with the inspection and driving test. You will schedule a driving test online. Click here to see information regarding the driving test (Texas DPS).
