Jacksboro ISD Parents,
Thank you for your patience during the severe weather event this afternoon. In an abundance of caution and upon the advice of Jack Co Emergency Management, we made the decision to place all campuses on Emergency SHELTER status at approximately 3:25 pm. Jack Co Emergency Management advised Jacksboro ISD to close Emergency SHELTER status at 4:00 pm. At that time we released students and started bus routes. Student and staff safety is our highest priority.
Jack Co Emergency Management has advised Jacksboro ISD that we can dismiss car riders, student drivers, and northern bus routes. We will hold south and east bus routes until advised to do so.
Jacksboro ISD continues to SHELTER at all campuses. The Tornado Warning for Jack Co has been extended to 4:15 pm. A decision on dismissal will be made at that time. Your patience is appreciated!
Jacksboro ISD has placed all campuses on Emergency SHELTER due to a Tornado Warning in Jack Co. Dismissal and bus routes will be delayed until the Tornado Warning expires.
Jacksboro PD has advised Jacksboro ISD to stand down from SECURE status. There will be a law enforcement presence at all campuses for the remainder of the day. Normal dismissal procedures will be followed.
All Jacksboro ISD campus have been placed on SECURE status while Jacksboro PD searches for a suspect. SECURE status means classes continue but no one is allowed to enter or exit the buildings. All students will remain inside our secure campuses until we are given the all clear from law enforcement.

Shout out to City of Jacksboro Maintenance Crews for helping clear snow and ice from our campus parking lots!

Jacksboro ISD will remain closed on Thursday, January 29 due to continued hazardous travel conditions and excessive snow and ice accumulations in parking lots and on pedestrian walkways. City of Jacksboro maintenance crews have been working diligently throughout the day to clear snow and ice from campus driveways and parking lots but a thick layer of ice is preventing significant progress. Pedestrian walkways are also unsafe, along with falling sheets of ice from rooftops present a serious hazard. Jacksboro ISD will continue to monitor travel conditions and prepare to open our facilities when conditions are deemed safe for students and staff.
Jacksboro ISD will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27 due to below freezing temperatures and no improvement to road conditions. Basketball games will be rescheduled. Please check JISD social media for updated game dates and times.
