Jacksboro ISD will remain open during the current power outage that is affecting the City of Jacksboro. Parents can pick up your students if you choose to do so. If power is not restored by noon, we will reevaluate the situation and determine if an early dismissal is necessary.
According to the Brookings Institute, a decade of studies on private school subsidies shows they actually hurt student achievement. Public tax dollars should be used to advance a public good, like improving student achievement.
Without elected boards or state oversight, vouchers are nothing more than private school subsidies that give away your tax dollars with no financial or academic accountability.

Public schools educate more than 90% of students in Texas. Those students deserve full funding for their schools before any discussion of diverting taxpayer money for private school subsidies."

Public schools are underfunded by billions, and any available funding should be prioritized for teacher raises and to help schools pay the bills. Board Meeting Time Change
The School Board Meeting on Monday, September 11, will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the JISD Board Room at 750 W Belknap St. This change is due to the Homecoming Bonfire at 8:00 p.m.
We want to send a great big THANK YOU to the Lions Club for providing school supplies for each campus. It is much appreciated by staff and will help support our students in the classroom.
