Jacksboro Football Recognized for Outstanding Sportsmanship
The Wichita Falls Football Officiating Chapter recognized Jacksboro for Outstanding Sportsmanship. The Tigers were selected out of all 3A-5A Football programs in the Wichita Falls area, and the award was voted on by all officials in the chapter. It was based on all levels of our program plus players/officials, coaches/officials, fans/officials, and our community in general. Character is defined as "who you are when you think no one is watching". Head Coach and Athletic Director Brannon Rodgers stated, "I am so proud of our kids and coaches. Their hard work and sportsmanship has been recognized and awarded by these area officials who were paying attention when we didn't realize they were watching so closely."
Ty Rodgers was awarded the Burlsworth Character Award. This is named after Brandon Burlsworth. He was a walk-on football player at the University of Arkansas. The movie "Greater" is about his life story. It is a must see movie. The greatest college player that began their career as a walk-on is awarded the Burlsworth Trophy each year in College Football. The Burlsworth Foundation also presents the character award for a senior football player that demonstrates great character in all aspects of life. This award is selected by the coaching staff. This is the 3rd year for this award. Past recipients were Tyler Harmonson & Reno Rollans.
Rodgers stated, "Sportsmanship & Character are two hallmark traits that we want to build our athletic program on. It was a great day to be a Tiger and recognize the great things our kids are doing."
