JISD Recognizes Principal Appreciation Month
Jacksboro ISD recognizes quality leaders across our district. October is Principal Appreciation Month, and JISD realizes the importance of leadership and what each of the principles do encourage and facilitate student success.
Aaron Hannah is the Principal at Jacksboro Elementary School. Hannah graduated from Washington High School and then went on to obtain a Master’s in Educational Administration and a Master’s in Organizational Psychology. He has been in education for fifteen years and enjoys the staff and students at JES. His favorite activity at JISD is Homecoming. Outside of school, Mr. Hannah enjoys hunting, fishing, and exercising.
Eric Davis is the Assistant Principal at Jacksboro Elementary School. Davis graduated from Rockwall High School and then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin and later obtained a Master of Educational Leadership in Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been in education for nine years and appreciates the passionate and inspirational educators and the inquisitive and respectful students at JES. His favorite tradition in Jacksboro is the 4th of July Pepper Eating Contest, but said the bonfire is a favorite as well. When Mr. Davis is not at school, he enjoys spending time with his family, BBQ, camping, and Fantasy Football. He and his wife, Emily, have two children.
Sara Mathis is the Principal at Jacksboro Middle School. Mathis graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1997 and then obtained a Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman’s University. She later received her Master of Education from Midwestern State University. She has been in education for nineteen years and considers Senior Assembly her favorite tradition at JISD. She also appreciates the excitement of the students at JMS. Outside of school, Mrs. Mathis enjoys spending time with her family and cooking. She and her husband, Jon, have two children.
Starla Sanders is the Principal at Jacksboro High School. Sanders graduated from Aledo High School and received a Bachelor of General Studies from Tyler Junior College and the University of Louisiana, Monroe. She later obtained a Master of Educational Administration from Lamar University. She has been in education for twelve years and considers the students and teachers she works with and the overall love for Jacksboro High School as her highlights of working at JHS. Mrs. Sanders’ favorite tradition at Jacksboro is Senior Assembly. When she is not at school, she enjoys golf, camping with her boys, and laughing with friends. She and her husband, Greg, have two children.
Sam Jackson is the Assistant Principal at Jacksboro High School. Jackson graduated from Alleghany High School in Covington, VA and then received a Bachelor of Science in English Literature from the University of Texas at Tyler. He later received a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. He has been in education for the past twelve years and considers Jacksboro a special place and appreciates the small-town atmosphere and how welcoming everyone has been to him and his family. When Mr. Jackson is not at school activities, he enjoys chasing kids, being on a farm, sports, and spending time with his wife, Joni. He and his wife have nine children.
