Academic UIL Participates in Billy Ryan High School 2010 Winter UIL Literary Tournament
Denton/Ryan High School held their annual invitational UIL literary tournament on Saturday, February 6th at Billy Ryan High School in Denton. Blythe Sewell, Jessi Hank, and Brandon Martin competed in six separate UIL events and brought home five individual trophies.
Blythe received a 2nd place trophy overall in Prose Interpretation. Jessi Hank competed in four individual writing competitions: Headline Writing receiving 4th place, Feature Writing receiving 5th place, Editorial Writing receiving 6th place, and News Writing. Brandon Martin received a 6th place trophy overall in Poetry Interpretation. Janette Epps coaches News Writing, Dori Taylor coaches Editorial Writing and Amber Fortenberry coaches Feature Writing for Jacksboro High School. Beverly Solomon, Academic UIL Director for Jacksboro High School, is also the Prose and Poetry Interpretation coach, as well as, Headline Writing coach.
