English IV Course Overview
Prerequisite – English III or administrative approval
Students will read novels, poetry, short stories, critical essays, and selected acts from dramatic works written by British authors and other authors from around the world. Various authors, works, and genres are chosen each year. Students will write in various forms using the correct conventions of written English and produce a research project using the MLA format. This course allows students the opportunity to engage in a number of class discussions to broaden their scope and knowledge of the authors, the era in which a work was written, and the influence the work/author may have on the present. Literary terms and their use in effective writing will be studied with each literary work .
