Rhoten Accepts Jack Harvey Award
Jane Ann Rhoten, Jacksboro High School senior English teacher, senior sponsor, and yearbook advisor, recently accepted the Jack Harvey Award of Excellence that is presented by Weatherford College each year.
Jack Harvey was a man who enjoyed a huge following of students and faculty during his teaching career of 23 years at Weatherford College. He is described as a true teacher and mentor. As a tribute to his memory, the Jack Harvey Fellowship Awards of Exemplary Teachers has been established at Weatherford College to recognize commendable teachers in the College's service area.
On Friday, January 29, 2010, Rhoten, representing Jacksboro ISD and Jacksboro High School, accepted this outstanding award among 34 other outstanding educators in the area. Mrs. Rhoten is an alumna of Jacksboro High School and strives to instill in her students an underlying sense of school pride and spirit. She often states, "I bleed purple," in reference to her pride in being a JHS graduate. She cares deeply for her students and our school. She challenges her students to prepare themselves for life after high school. Respect and responsibility are cornerstone themes that Mrs. Rhoten emphasizes in her daily instruction. One of Mrs. Rhoten's main responsibilities as senior sponsor is to organize graduation and senior activities. She does a tremendous job in preparing graduates for the pomp and circumstance ceremonies we conduct at Jacksboro High School.
