Jacksboro ISD has Signed on With SchoolMessenger

Beginning February 1, 2010, Jacksboro ISD will launch SchoolMessenger. This system provides notification services for parental outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts, and other communications for education. The system is able to automatically call parents for a variety of reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of students.

SchoolMessenger will not replace current modes of school communication, but will be used to complement the district’s community outreach efforts and emergency preparedness procedures. Acquisition of this system is intended to reinforce the district’s commitment to remain personally connected to parents. Principals will remain accessible for live visits, and paper-based memoranda will continue to be sent home.

The SchoolMessenger system will begin making attendance calls for Jacksboro ISD on February 1, 2010.  Attendance calls will be delivered if the student is marked absent from the attendance period (2nd Period—HS & MS; Attendance Period—Elementary). If a parent has called the student’s campus to inform school personnel of an absence prior to the attendance period, a call will not be issued by the system.

SchoolMessenger will also be used for school closure announcements, event change notification, and general purpose information including upcoming school events such as statewide testing and parent meetings. Initially Jacksboro ISD will only use the telephone call portion of SchoolMessenger.  As the semester continues JISD will enable and configure the cell phone texting features. If you are interested in receiving text messages instead of telephone calls, please contact the central office of your student’s campus to insure the correct cell phone number is on file.

If you have any questions regarding SchoolMessenger please contact the Technology Department at (940) 567-7268.
